Tuesday 10/1
This morning went very well. The kids were awake, fed and dressed for school with 15-20 minutes to spare. I took Rahm to school and he had a mini meltdown wanting his mom, but it was short lived. He was in his stride once we walked through the doors. I was proud of myself that I didn’t screw up the coded door! Yesterday I needed some help when I was picking him up. Darlene dropped Vail and Leo at school and we then went to the Denver Botanical Gardens-so beautiful!
We had lunch at a nice restaurant in the heart of Denver. It was very good. Darlene drove us in her beautiful Mercedes SUV and we parked on the street about a block and a half from the restaurant. When we returned to the car after eating, there was a note on Darlene’s windshield that someone named Mollie had scraped her car on the front drivers side bumper. Mollie left her phone number on the note but it was kind of a bummer. We got in the car to leave and in less than 30 seconds, BAM, we were hit from behind on the drivers side by a guy in a truck! WTF! He was trying to avoid another truck that was trying to parallel park. This one was much worse, the whole rear bumper and side panel will likely need to be replaced. Good news though, no kids were in the car, no one was hurt and the car is still drivable.
We got home and Darlene picked up all three kids while I fixed dinner, taco boats with Tostito scoops, taco hamburger and chicken avocado and cheese. Then I was off with Leo to hockey practice and Darlene and Rahm took Vail to gymnastics. By the time Leo and I got home, Rahm was in bed, Leo watched a show and had a snack, Darlene left to pick up Vail and I put Leo to bed. I showered, Darlene and Vail got home and began Vail’s bedtime routine and I went to bed. It’s crazy busy with these activities! I loved watching Leo’s practice though! He’s such a good skater and listens very well to the coaches. He was so tired, and so was I
All three of the kids skate and play hockey, so Marcus and Paige had a hockey rink put in the backyard. During the winter, they put in a liner and fill it with water that freezes so the kids can skate. Vail and Leo are on competitive hockey teams and I’m sure Rahm will be in a year or two. During the summer, the rink doubles as a small soccer field with nets at each end and artificial turf inside.
