Mommy and Daddy are finally home!  These kids were so excited!  Darlene and I had another busy afternoon after dropping the kids off at school, going out for a good breakfast in Parker and going home for a NAP!  It was so nice! Then it was time to prepare charcuterie boards for our cars. I picked up Rahm from school, took him to gymnastics and then dropped him off at Leo’s baseball practice with Darlene. She’d picked up Vail and Leo from school and dropped Vail off at swimming before baseball. After dropping off Rahm, I headed to the high school where Vail had swim practice and picked her up and headed home. We all arrived about the same time. The kids had a bite to eat, played and were ready for bed watching a show when Paige and Marcus arrived!  They put the kiddos to bed and relaxed for awhile and told us about their trip before we all went to bed. Although it was a very busy week, and I caught a bit of a cold from the boys and I’m tired, it was a fun week I...

We started with a bang! Vail thought her hockey began at 8:30, Darlene’s and my schedule said 9:30, and we needed to be there a half hour early to dress. While waiting for Paige to respond to a text, Vail and I decided to play the odds that it was an early game so we left to be there and dressed for an 8:30 game. After talking to a few people at the sports complex and getting Paige’s response that it was a 9:30 start, Vail was dressed in uniform, so we watched another game for awhile before Vail’s game finally started at 9:30. Vail is the smallest player on her team but she is not afraid to get in there and mix it up with the much bigger boys and play her best game! She did awesome and even scored a goal!!  The team did lose but she did very well and got a nice compliment from the ref named Jason.  Meanwhile, Leo had double header flag football games where he scored 5 times between the two games. Flag football?-he got tackled and ended up with a bloody nose. He hardly missed a...

Today was busy, but it was a good day.  Paige and Marcus’s FaceTimed with the kids this morning which was good for Vail and Rahm, but Leo was so sad, he shut down and cried. He’s such a sensitive boy.  Darlene left with Vail and Rahm for Vail’s soccer game (her team won!), and I brought Leo to hockey practice. We left much earlier than we needed to because we were picking up his new jersey - #43 for the Warriors, and it was ‘placement’ day where they determine what team the kids will be on. I wasn’t sure how long it would take to get the jersey and didn’t want Leo to be late. Since we were early, we took our time in the locker room getting him dressed and had a lot of fun!  I took pictures every step of the process and he loved it! We also watched some big kids play a couple periods of their game before he took the ice with 100 other kids. It’s very well organized and Leo did fantastic! He’s a very fast skater and seems to have good puck control. He listens to the c...

Today began with the crankies almost all the way around. Vail had a big decision to make that created a meltdown, Leo isn’t feeling great and I don’t think he slept well, Rahm did not sleep well or as long as he needed to. He kept getting up last night when he should’ve been asleep. I did not sleep well either and my right knee had a kink all morning but is better tonight. The only normal human in the house was Darlene.  However, the kids had a good breakfast and all were at school on time or before.  Dar and I had fun. We headed to MeowWolf but were early so walked through Union Station and the Dairy block where we had a little bite to eat. MeowWolf is bizarre!  It was fun but I don’t really understand the whole concept-your memories are currency-and this one in Denver is Aliens. I’d hate to be on drugs walking from room to room! We went home for about an hour and I picked up Rahm and Darlene picked up the other two. They had a quick dinner and Darlene was off to V...

Bedtime! The morning began again with bacon, French toast, and pancakes-some with only butter and some with butter and syrup-and “ can we have the bacon crispy please?”    Rahm desperately wanted Mimi to take him to school and she couldn't, but promised to pick him up.  He really misses his parents but especially mommy. However, he’s easily entertained which distracts him and once he’s at school, all is well.  Leo has the sniffles and wasn’t feeling 100%. So he asked Mimi to pick him up from school. Darlene and I figured it all out. Leo also misses mom and dad, but especially his daddy. This boy has such a tender side to him despite his tough, competitive exterior. He’s a cuddler in the morning and before bed. So cute! He’s so good athletically, sometimes it’s hard to remember he’s only 6 years old. Vail has been great! She is a big help with the boys (sometimes a bit too much for them!). She’s nearly always happy and chatty. Of course she misses her mom and dad too,...

Wednesday 10/2

Another successful start to the day!  These kids eat very good at breakfast. Rahm ate 10-12 silver dollar size pancakes, bacon and I think some grapes. Leo ate an English muffin and bacon and Vail ate French bread strips and this girl loves her bacon! Darlene took Vail and Leo to school, I waited at home with Rahm and he rollerbladed around the family room and kitchen with a hockey stick and ball. He’s getting good! When Darlene returned, we both took Rahm to school and then headed to Steve’s to say hello to he and Connie and for me to get adjusted. We had a nice visit.  Right down the street from Steve’s clinic is Cherry Creek Retirement Center, Alene’s new home. The last I saw her was the end of July. Her dementia is so much worse. It’s so sad. Darlene and I along with Alene and her friend Kaye went to lunch. For nearly an hour before leaving for lunch, we looked for Alene’s wallet. It was found after lunch. Whew!  We didn’t get to visit too much after lunch because Dar...
