Sunday 10/6

We started with a bang! Vail thought her hockey began at 8:30, Darlene’s and my schedule said 9:30, and we needed to be there a half hour early to dress. While waiting for Paige to respond to a text, Vail and I decided to play the odds that it was an early game so we left to be there and dressed for an 8:30 game. After talking to a few people at the sports complex and getting Paige’s response that it was a 9:30 start, Vail was dressed in uniform, so we watched another game for awhile before Vail’s game finally started at 9:30. Vail is the smallest player on her team but she is not afraid to get in there and mix it up with the much bigger boys and play her best game! She did awesome and even scored a goal!!  The team did lose but she did very well and got a nice compliment from the ref named Jason.

Meanwhile, Leo had double header flag football games where he scored 5 times between the two games. Flag football?-he got tackled and ended up with a bloody nose. He hardly missed a beat from what I was told and was back in the game in no time. He was impressed that members from the other team were there to help him up off the ground (except the kid that tackled him).

After hockey, Vail and I got a quick bite to eat and headed from Highlands Ranch to Arvada to her soccer tournament. Darlene and the boys arrived at about the same time as we did. We watched Vail’s team win the first game so they were playing in the championship game three hours later. The boys were tired and had no room to play during the soccer game so they were becoming unmanagable so I was going to stay for the game and Darlene was taking the boys home when a guardian angel sent the mom of two of Vail’s teammates over and offered to be in charge of Vail for the three hours until the game and bring her home. Whew!  It was a huge relief!  When home with the boys, we played with them on the playset for an hour or so before letting them watch tv while we prepared dinner. We all ate and then it was bath time for them. They were filthy! Vail got home, her team won the championship and we heard she played very well!

Bedtime wasn’t too bad. Darlene got Rahm to sleep. The about a half hour later, she put Vail to bed and I put Leo to bed.

These kids have been very good. Mommy and daddy get home late tomorrow. I don’t remember a meltdown for mommy and daddy today. Maybe Rahm had one when I wasn’t around but they do know tomorrow is the day!

I was scheduled to leave for Orlando Wednesday, but due to hurricane Milton, I changed my flight to Tuesday. Orlando airport will likely be closed on Wednesday. Another f***ing hurricane.
